Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake confirm split
KEY POINTS:
LOS ANGELES - It's now official. Popstar Justin Timberlake and Hollywood siren Cameron Diaz are no longer together.
The couple today released a joint statement confirming they have broken up, but that they remain friends.
Timberlake, 25, and Charlie's Angels star Diaz, 34, had been an item since 2003 and speculation raged in 2005 that they were planning to tie the knot at a wedding in the south of France.
However reports that the couple's relationship was over have mounted in recent weeks after they were both seen attending awards and red carpet events in Los Angeles alone.
"It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship, but, out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media," the couple said in a statement.
"We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another."
