George Floyd wife-George Perry Floyd Jr. is an African-American native who was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota during an arrest.

Floyd was born on October 14, 1973 in Fayetteville, North Carolina in the United States of America.

Floyd’s mother relocated with the children to the Cuney Homes public housing, often known as the Bricks, in Houston’s Third Ward, a predominantly African-American neighborhood, when Floyd was two years old after his parents divorced.

Being over six feet (183 cm) tall in middle school, Floyd, who was known as Big Floyd as a child, regarded sports as a means of enhancing his life.

Floyd attended Ryan Middle School and received his high school diploma from Yates in 1993. He was a power forward on the basketball team at Yates and served as co-captain. As a tight end for the football squad, he particip ated in the 1992 Texas State finals with his team.

Floyd was the first of his siblings to attend college, spending two years at South Florida Community College on a football scholarship while also participating in basketball.

In 1995, he changed schools and enrolled at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he played basketball as well.

After being introduced to one another in the mid-1990s, Floyd became friends with Stephen Jackson, a future NBA star who was known as his “twin” due to their striking likeness.

He was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm) at his tallest and 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm) at the time of his autopsy. He weighed 223 pounds (101 kg) at that time.

In 1995, Floyd moved back to Houston after finishing college in Kingsville, Texas, where he worked as an auto customizer and participated in club basketball.

He began performing as a rapper in the hip-hop group Screwed Up Click in 1994 under the alias Big Floyd. Floyd received eight jail stints between 1997 and 2005 for a variety of offenses, including drug use, theft, and trespassing.

Based solely on the testimony of police officer Gerald Goines, Floyd was found guilty in one of these cases in 2004 of carrying less than half a gram of crack cocaine.

Due to Goines’ involvement in the Harding Street raid and subsequent investigation for a pattern of fabricating evidence, the Harris County, Texas, district attorney requested a posthumous pardon for Floyd’s conviction in April 2021 due to Goines’ lack of credibility.

In 2007, Floyd was accused of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. According to investigators, Floyd and five other men broke into the flat by pretending to be water department workers. He then put a pistol to a woman’s stomach while looking for valuables to steal.

Three months later, during a traffic check, Floyd was taken into custody, and robbery victims recognized him from a photo array. As part of a plea agreement, Floyd received a five-year prison term in 2009 and was released on parole in January 2013.

Following his release, Floyd grew closer to the Christian church and ministry Resurrection Houston, where he mentored young men and shared anti-violence messages on social media.

2014 saw Floyd go to Minneapolis in an effort to start over and find employment. He quickly finished a 90-day rehabilitation program at the Turning Point program in north Minneapolis after arriving.

Floyd admitted that he needed a job and started working as a security guard at Harbor Light Center, a Salvation Army shelter for the homeless.

Floyd was taken into custody by Minneapolis police in May 2019 after his unlicensed vehicle was stopped during a traffic stop. Having a bottle of painkillers was Floyd.

Floyd was a security guard at the El Nuevo Rodeo Club in 2019 while off-duty police officer Derek Chauvin also worked there.

Floyd started a second job as a delivery driver in 2020 while continuing to work part-time as a security guard at the Conga Latin Bistro nightclub.

After receiving a ticket for operating a vehicle without a current commercial license and being involved in a minor collision, he was fired from his delivery driver employment in January.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck Minnesota, he was looking for a new job, and when the club closed in March owing to pandemic regulations, his financial condition got worse.

Floyd was hospitalized in March as well after taking too much medication. He acquired COVID-19 in April, but he soon made a full recovery.
